Melbourne to Halls Gap

First thing after breaky we took Kyro for a walk and grabbed a quick coffee at our local cafe. We then ubered to the bike which Elizabeth has kindly stored for us for the last few months.

After changing and packing the bike we set off.

We both over dressed and were too hot in the Melbourne traffic but things settled down once we got on the motorway.

It felt good to be on the road again and even better once we got off the motorway.

A mixture of A and B roads and sometimes C roads. Easy going in pleasant temperatures with not much traffic.

I did take note of the amount of roadkill which reminded me to take it easy and stay alert. There’s some bloody big kangaroos in this part of Australia.

We stopped for lunch in the very pretty town of Ballarat. Loads of old buildings and a really nice feel about it.

We then headed towards Dunkeld which is the entry point into the Grampians National Park.

I pulled in for gas and there was only one 98 pump which I didn’t see at first. As we were looking around for it we both looked behind us at the same time, my foot slipped and down we went. Robyn grazed her hand but it is coming right thank goodness. Just out of practice I think.

So into the Grampians to the the town of Halls Gap. Very scenic but also quite high and a bit chilly.

Just a tourist town, but due to a very nasty fire last year they are struggling, with staff especially hard to find.

After checking into our motel we wandered to the information centre, then had a local beer and an early dinner at the craft brewery.
